Duke Energy has partnered with the North Carolina Wildlife Federation and Natrx to install 48 advanced FishHouse reef structures at Lake Norman’s public fishing piers. This marks the first freshwater deployment of Natrx’s habitat technology, designed to enhance fish populations and aquatic ecosystems. The project was funded through Duke Energy’s Habitat Enhancement Program.
Lake Norman, North Carolina's largest man-made lake, is a vital resource for recreation and biodiversity. By improving aquatic habitats, this initiative supports environmental sustainability while strengthening community ties and enhancing the lake's value as a public asset.
Why it matters: This project reinforces Duke Energy's role as a community partner and environmental steward. Such initiatives can enhance public perception, support regional sustainability goals, and demonstrate leadership in integrating ecological considerations into operational strategies.
