Duke Energy Florida EV drivers will get a $7.50 monthly credit for off-peak charging

WFTV

Duke Energy Florida is offering residential EV owners a $7.50 monthly bill credit for charging during off-peak hours. Eligible hours include weekdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., as well as all day on weekends and holidays. Participants must use a Level 2 charger and can enroll up to two vehicles per account. Since its 2022 launch, the program has distributed $1.5 million in credits.

This initiative supports Duke's efforts to manage grid demand and promote EV adoption by incentivizing customers to shift charging to off-peak hours. The program's scale and success could influence competitors to adopt similar strategies as EV ownership grows.

Why this matters to you: Duke's program targets a fast-expanding EV market in Florida, directly competing for customer loyalty. Understanding how off-peak incentives resonate with customers could inform enhancements to your Energy Dashboard or other offerings, helping you retain and attract this key demographic while optimizing grid performance.
