The Apopka Voice
FPL has partnered with the Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association to train first responders on battery energy storage systems. Announced during National Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 4–10), the program has already trained over 200 firefighters in six Florida communities. The training covers battery technology, emergency response protocols, and incident management.
This initiative aligns with FPL’s growing deployment of battery systems, which enhance grid reliability and store low-cost energy. By preparing emergency personnel, FPL ensures safe operations and builds trust as these systems become integral to Florida’s energy infrastructure.
Why this matters to you: As battery systems scale across Florida, ensuring first responders are equipped to handle emergencies bolsters both safety and public trust. Expanding this program could further enhance your leadership in energy innovation and community safety.
