Apple has launched its Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) in Houston, a facility designed to train small- and medium-sized businesses in smart manufacturing. The center is co-located with Apple's AI server production site and will begin manufacturing Mac mini units later this year. The project represents an investment of hundreds of millions of dollars and was inaugurated with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and Senator Ted Cruz in attendance.
This expansion builds on Apple's earlier announcements about the Houston site, reinforcing its commitment to domestic production amid global supply chain challenges. The AMC is Apple's second U.S. manufacturing training hub, aiming to upskill the workforce and drive innovation in advanced manufacturing.
Investment implication: By increasing U.S.-based production, Apple may reduce exposure to geopolitical risks and supply chain disruptions. For you, this shift could alter Apple's cost dynamics and competitive positioning, particularly in hardware pricing and delivery timelines.
