Shopify has extended its Managed Markets cross-border ecommerce tools to Canadian merchants, enabling streamlined international selling. The platform, supported by Global-e Online, simplifies duties, taxes, customs, and localized payment methods. Managed Markets V2 is currently in early access for select Canadian merchants, with Global-e Canada E-Commerce Ltd. serving as the merchant of record for international transactions.
This move follows Shopify's earlier Managed Markets expansions in the U.S. and U.K. By leveraging Global-e's infrastructure, Shopify offers capabilities typically developed in-house by larger retailers, making these tools accessible to mid-sized and smaller merchants.
Why it matters: Shopify's Managed Markets expansion into Canada demonstrates momentum in its cross-border strategy. The Canadian rollout strengthens its competitive position in international ecommerce.
